I just followed the doc to alter Windows Policies.Īlso note that the doc referenced above specifically states "This procedure will work on the HomeTroller Plus only" - but it might provide some clues if your situation is different. Note that I didn't change any registry keys, nor did I change any options in HS4 Setup. I went in and changed back all the policies the doc told me to edit, then restarted the Hometroller Plus just to make sure that the startup logic hadn't been altered by the updates. This time Windows Update indicated I was 'Up To Date'. Shut down HS4 again, let Windows Update run, and jumped back in when the system became visible - quite a bit more quickly this time around. As is usual, there were additional updates that needed to be run.
Alternate Method: Connect via SSH to your system. Click Install Update and your unit will take about 90 seconds to come back up. When the system again became visible in I RPC'ed back in and checked Windows Updates again. If an update is available there will be an option to install it in the Latest Release section. I let all that go and it ran for nearly five hours. I got a long series of updates including the feature upgrade to 20H2. I RPC'ed into my HomeTroller Plus, followed the steps in the document, manually shut down HS4 and turned loose Windows Update. I have some experience with Windows and the steps seemed reasonable to me. After some searching I found the following: If you select Update and Security with the policies set as they are on a new Hometroller Plus, the Update and Security pane will display "*Some settings are managed by your organization".
I was concerned about Windows Updates as many of the recent updates have involved security. I've just put in service a new HomeTroller Plus and updated it to 4.1.17.
